A promotion themed around "Travel Girls and Trains: Let's Take a Train Trip" kicked off on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku from the 5th to the 24th of this month, right in the middle of summer vacation. The promotion features items related to "Travel Girls and Trains" and trains, selected under the three themes of "Spending Time," "Capturing," and "Enjoying," including collaboration items with the Hokutosei sleeper express, which sadly will make its final run on the 22nd of this month, and an N-gauge (model train) diorama, a familiar sight to train enthusiasts. The "Spending Time" zone offers items to enhance your travels, including babouche slippers that will come in handy on the sleeper express and at your accommodation, cardigans, clutch bags, pouches, and sweets perfect for enjoying while gazing out the window. Travel-sized hair and body care sets are also available, perfect for women. "Cutting" conveys the message of capturing travel memories in photographs and diaries and turning them into memories. Travel photos taken by photographer Atsushi Maruta are also on display and for sale at the venue, evoking a sense of wanderlust. In addition, in collaboration with Traveler's Factory, masking tape and tote bags are also available for recording travel memories. Under the theme of "Enjoying," there will be a giant railway diorama and other attractions perfect for the summer holidays that both children and adults can enjoy. On the 8th, during the event, a talk event will be held featuring Saya Ichikawa, a model and talent who is also known as a "railway girl," where she will discuss the appeal of railways. On the 8th and 9th, there will also be a mini diorama-making workshop open to parents and children, and a running event where visitors can glide and control an N-gauge model train.
When asked why they chose to focus on trains and traveling girls, the buyer in charge of the project commented, "Train travel, including sleeper express trains, can be seen as a high-class hobby where you enjoy the experience itself, including the time it takes to travel. We hope to convey that spending time in luxury, such as on a train journey, can be a new value in our customers' lifestyles."
With a giant N-gauge diorama in the middle of the fashion floor and a photo spot modeled after the Hokutosei, this event is sure to give you a taste of traveling even in Tokyo.
