Ayumi Hamasaki's original rain shoes are now available in limited quantities. Handmade by artisans at the downtown Paris factory "Woodvale."

Jan 9, 2013

Ayumi Hamasaki's original rain boots (¥38,000) and rain pumps (¥15,000) will be released in limited quantities. They were created in collaboration with Eiji Moriya, president of Woodvali, Tokyo's only rubber shoe factory in Katsushika Ward, and Daichi Miura, designer of DOSQA.

The rain boots feature a leopard print printed on the entire surface, using techniques unique to Japanese artisans. The color was carefully selected to ensure a balanced look when viewed from afar. The metal hardware is antique gold, and the studded ankle strap can be removed to suit any style. The rain pumps, featuring a black and leopard print combination, feature cushioned, comfortable insoles. Both the boots and pumps are designed for rainy days, private occasions, and even the office. Because they are handcrafted, they are available for pre-order only from January 8th to 15th. Details are available on Ayumi Hamasaki's official website, Facebook page, and the special page for the mu-mo shop.

Woodvali, which was founded 53 years ago, produces stylish rubber boots that dispel the image of being for rainy days or work. They have received requests from major apparel manufacturers and have even been featured at Paris Fashion Week. Leveraging their strength in being handmade by artisans, they are also popular at high-end clothing specialty stores in Ginza.
