"Meiji and Taisho Toys Exhibition" currently being held at the Ginza Mikimoto flagship store

Dec 27, 2012

The "Meiji and Taisho Toys Exhibition: Revealing Children's Lives" has been running since the 14th at the Mikimoto Hall on the 6th floor of the Mikimoto flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo.

The exhibition features approximately 200 items selected from a collection of 3,000 items owned by the Doi Children's Living Museum in Mie Prefecture, including paper games and karuta cards themed around history and daily life, as well as tin and wooden toys inspired by foreign products. Through these toys that are over 100 years old, visitors can get a glimpse into Japanese life during the Meiji and Taisho periods, a time when Japan was greatly influenced by Western culture and modernized.
