Max Mara presented its Spring/Summer 2017 women's collection in Milan on September 22nd. The venue was transformed into a tropical rainforest, lush with ivy and greenery, a departure from Max Mara's usual urban and elegant image, exciting the audience even before the show began.

The collection's theme was "Tropical Modern." Inspired by the architect, designer, and intellectual Lina Bo Bardi, the collection presented a completely new concept, combining sensuality and modernity for the modern woman.

Gigi Hadid's first look was a jungle-patterned bodysuit. This was followed by vibrant prints featuring rich flora and fauna, and patchwork that mimicked the precise geometric structures characteristic of Bo Bardi's architecture. While incorporating classic and traditional elements, the collection also actively incorporated the latest technology. The collection features bold ventures such as the use of high-performance jersey and nylon typically used in sportswear in form-fitting dresses, as well as a high-tech version of the iconic 101801 coat. Techno clogs with wooden soles provide stability and practicality, emanating an athletic yet sensual vibe.

Calm yet uninhibited, refined yet luxurious, high-tech yet artistic. Like the work of Bo Bardi, this collection mixes opposing elements and is dedicated to women with grand ideas. Max Mara's challenge to modernity appears to have taken a bold step in the right direction.
