[4 days in Paris] DAY 1: Discover something new every time you visit the latest trends in the Marais

Oct 13, 2016
Paris continues to evolve in its own way, sensing the times. With a "don't chase those who leave, choose those who come" attitude, the city embraces new trends while never forgetting its nostalgic past.

While many people are anxious following the terrorist attacks, those who visit will be surprised to see how the city has completely returned to normal. As the world's most visited city for many years, the city is more considerate of travelers than ever before, and security has been strengthened.
In "4 Days in Paris," local writer Elie Inoué shares ideas for spending time in Paris, experiencing fashion, food, art, and culture!

◇DAY1

9:00 AM @Les Philosophes

When you think of French breakfast, you think of croissants and espresso. For breakfast on Day 1, you should try a Parisian classic! So, head to Les Philosophes. Dressed in the old-fashioned garçon style of black suits and white aprons, you can experience an authentic Parisian cafe experience.

By the way, in France, "coffee" refers to espresso. If you want coffee with milk, order "café au lait" or "café crème."

PM12:30@ofr.

Ofr. is a bookstore that carries fashion magazines, art books, and photo books from all over the world. There are also many independent magazines that are not available on the market. ofr. was started in 1996 when the owner, who originally published a free magazine, became troubled by the difficulty of obtaining foreign magazines and opened his own bookshop near Canal Saint-Martin.

In the fall of 2007, the shop moved to the Marais district, which has become a popular gathering place for creators and designers. An event space has been set up at the back of the store, where a variety of events such as artist exhibitions and publication parties are carefully planned, and the shop now serves as a sort of command center for artists. The friendly owner, who loves to chat, will have you dropping in to this bookshop if you happen to be in the area.

3:00 PM @Popelini

After enjoying some shopping at concept stores Merci and Maison Kitsune, head to Popelini for your 3 o'clock snack. This cream puff specialty shop was opened by a pastry chef from Ladurée, famous for its macarons! In addition to nine standard flavors like coffee and caramel, they also have a different flavor every day (yuzu, cheesecake, blueberry, etc.), so why not check out their Facebook page and get your hands on the flavor you're looking for?

After filling our stomachs with small, adorable cream puffs, we resumed our stroll through the Marais!

5:00 PM @ L'ECLAIREUR

L'ECLAIREUR is one of Paris's most iconic select shops. With displays and a space that feel more like a museum than a shop, a visit always leaves us feeling special. Although it's a high-end store, the staff are friendly and hospitable (which is extremely rare in France!). It's no wonder they've established themselves as a pioneer of select shops in Paris for over 30 years. Each of the four stores has its own unique character and atmosphere, so be sure to experience each space.
