A special screening of Sofia Coppola's film "Marie Antoinette" will be held at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi from November 4th to November 17th.
The screening is being held to commemorate the opening of the "Marie Antoinette Exhibition: The Truth of the French Queen Told Through Artworks," currently being held at the Mori Arts Center Gallery on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.
The film depicts the emotional journey of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France. It depicts her turbulent life from her marriage at age 14 to her execution at age 37. Although Marie enjoyed the ultimate honor and luxury of being queen, in reality she lived a life of hardship, requiring 24-hour attendants, attracting worldwide attention, and being the subject of gossip. The film recreates the lavish costumes and scenery of the royal household. The costumes created for the film by two-time Academy Award-winning designer Milena Canonero adorn the nobles of the court. Shoes by the famous luxury shoe brand Manolo Blahnik and sweets by the long-established Western confectionery maker Ladurée also create a magical world.
The film will be screened only at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi. The screening period is from November 4th to November 17th, and tickets cost 1,100 yen. For more information such as screening times, please visit the TOHO Cinemas official website.
