Ryohin Keikaku, the company that plans and develops MUJI products, will begin selling Japanese fabrics at Found MUJI from February 1st.
The store will feature 10 types of fabrics made in regions that have long been thriving as dyeing and weaving centers, including Murayama-Oshima Kasuri Itajime (Tokyo), Kurume Kasuri (Fukuoka Prefecture), corduroy (Shizuoka Prefecture), Arimatsu-Narumi Itajime Shibori (Aichi Prefecture), and denim needle punch (Yamanashi Prefecture). Products made from fabrics from each region, such as Murayama-Oshima Kasuri Itajime throws and Kurume Kasuri handkerchiefs, will be sold at select stores. Fabric sales are limited to Found MUJI Aoyama and MUJI Canal City Hakata.
Found MUJI seeks out long-used everyday items from around the world, slightly improves them to meet modern quality standards, and refurbishes them at reasonable prices. The store has a physical base in Aoyama. They discover and sell excellent items from all over the world, such as "Lucky Cans" filled with local toys from all over Japan, knitwear made using the raw wool colors of alpacas living in Peru, hand-embroidered fabric products from India, and items found at a craft market in Lithuania.
