Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. announced that it has begun construction work on the "(tentative name) Mitsui Outlet Park Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the "(tentative name) Taiwan Linkou Outlet Project" in New Taipei City, northern Taiwan.
(tentative name) Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA will be Mitsui Fudosan's first outlet mall project in Southeast Asia, and will be developed by MFMA Development Sendrin Berhad, a joint venture with joint venture partner Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. Construction is scheduled to be completed and open in early 2015, with plans calling for it to eventually become one of Southeast Asia's largest outlet mall facilities.
The Taiwan Linkou Outlet Project (tentative name) will be the Mitsui Fudosan Group's first project in Taiwan. It will be developed by Sanxin Outlets Corporation, a joint venture with Farglory Construction Co., Ltd., a core company of the major Taiwanese conglomerate Farglory Group, Mitsui Fudosan's joint venture partner. It is one of the largest outlet mall projects in northern Taiwan. Construction is scheduled for completion and opening in the second half of 2015.
Both projects will leverage Mitsui Fudosan's know-how cultivated through its domestic Mitsui Outlet Parks and Shanjing Outlet Plaza-Ningbo, which opened in 2011 in Zhejiang Province, China, as its first overseas commercial facility, while promoting development tailored to local business practices. Mitsui Fudosan is also developing LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao (tentative name), scheduled to open in 2017, and is also participating in and expanding residential projects in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries. Going forward, the company will continue to expand its business, focusing on residential property sales, where demand is growing in Southeast Asia, and commercial facilities, which can capture growth in personal consumption.
