May 26, 2014

The 47th Takeo Paper Show, an event that shares information with creators and printing technology experts from the three perspectives of paper, design, and technology, and opens up the possibilities of paper materials for the future, began on May 25th and continues through June 1st at TOKYO/ heuristic SHINONOME in Shinonome, Tokyo.

Under the theme of "Subtle," the exhibition focuses on the delicate world that the medium of paper brings to the human senses, highlighting the true essence of paper.

The exhibition features a compilation of various phenomena that have blossomed through paper, from the 55 volumes of The Tale of Genji and Western calligraphy to sugar cube wrappers and sparklers. Fifteen creators, including graphic designer Yoshihisa Tanaka, Torafu Architects, architect Ryuji Nakamura, graphic designer Kazunari Hattori, and designer Akira Minagawa, participated in the event, and a talk show was also held.

In addition, architectural design firm noiz will be showcasing different looks for three new paper brands: the light and soft "Fukō," and "NT Lasha" and "Biotope GA-FS," which have achieved new qualities through increased color and ream count. Seventeen original images of the paper taken by photographer Yoshihiko Ueda will also be on display.

Since its founding in 1899, Takeo has been a specialized paper trading company, developing and providing high-quality special printing paper, "Fine Paper." The company has also contributed to cultural activities, such as the establishment of the Takeo Award and the compilation and public exhibition of the Takeo Poster Collection.
