In 1969, the same summer as Woodstock, another large-scale festival attracted 300,000 people to New York. The Harlem Cultural Festival, a legendary music festival that brought together chart-topping Black music stars like a young Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, and the then-popular Sly & the Family Stone, has been lost to history for 50 years. Amir "Questlove" Thompson, four-time Grammy Award winner and globally acclaimed drummer/DJ for The Roots, brings the festival to life in this powerful documentary. Masterfully weaving together live performances with rare archival footage, the film conveys a living, breathing history of modern America, conveying a message of pride and hope to viewers. This film chronicles the way music moved and united people during a turbulent era that transformed politics, culture, fashion, and lifestyles. It challenges us today to consider true freedom, dignity, and the joy of living.

The trailer begins with a powerful message from Nina Simone, asking, "Are you ready?", followed by Gladys Knight's testimony, filled with pride and confidence, and finally, the excitement reaches a fever pitch with Sly & the Family Stone's groove, calling for "higher things to come!"
