The documentary film "Lil Buck: From the Streets to the World," which explores the secrets of Lil Buck's incredible dancing and the city of Memphis where he grew up, will be released nationwide starting August 20th.

This film traces the journey of Lil Buck, a boy who grew up in the tough, fighting city of Memphis, from a single video that led him to become a world-class dancer and a light of Memphis. Memphis is known as the city where civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. This film documents the life of Charles Riley (nicknamed Lil Buck), a boy who grew up in Memphis and became obsessed with Memphis Jookin', a street dance that originated in Memphis, and his journey to becoming a world-famous dancer.

A boy with a simple desire to "become a good dancer," he didn't stop at Memphis Jukin. He eventually received a scholarship and tried his hand at classical ballet, combining Jukin with ballet to perform the classic "The Dying Swan." World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma saw him perform "The Dying Swan" and invited him to perform with him at a charity party. By chance, film director Spike Jonze was there, captivated by his astonishing dance, and filmed it on his phone and posted the video. That one video changed Lil Buck's life.

About Lil Buck

Born in 1988. In addition to his work with Yo-Yo Ma, he has also appeared in Janelle Monáe's music video for "Tightrope," performed with Cirque du Soleil, toured with Madonna, performed at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, collaborated with Versace and Nike, and appeared in commercials for Uniqlo, GAP, and Apple. He founded MOVEMENT ART IS (M.A.I.) and currently serves as a creative associate at the Juilliard School in New York.
