Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi offers Mother's Day gifts with flowers, sweets, and photos

May 7, 2014

Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store is running a store-wide campaign ahead of Mother's Day on May 11th, proposing a variety of gifts. The campaign will run until the 11th.

In the area of flowers, a classic Mother's Day gift, they are introducing an all-around arrangement (5,400 yen) featuring large roses from Belle Fleur, a preserved flower shop located in the interior goods corner on the 5th floor of the main building. In the same corner, flower designer Ryohei Konno will be holding a flower arranging workshop on the 3rd and 5th, suggesting that people give arrangements they have made themselves.

Sweets, which have been gaining attention in recent years as an alternative gift to flowers, will feature a selection of adorable sweets with a flower motif, such as Fornum & Mason's Mother's Day limited edition roll cake (1,200 yen), which is finished with pink strawberry cream and decorated with daisies and strawberries to express gratitude, and Ryoguchiya Korekiyo's "Okuru Hana" (Gift Flowers) (700 yen), which combines clear Kingyokukan with yokan to represent carnations.

In addition, to allow parents and children to spend Mother's Day relaxing together, Tokyo Kaikan will be offering a limited-time "Mother's Day Gozen" bento box (limited to 15 meals per day / 5,400 yen), which is a colorfully arranged bento box containing sashimi, soba noodles, abalone teppanyaki, and sweet potato yokan. Since last year, the Mitsukoshi Isetan Group has been running a Mother's Day campaign entitled "Mother's Day is Family Photo Day." At "Hajimarino Cafe," which opened in March this year, they take family photos, mainly of the mother, and offer a service to create original tabloid-sized photo books (62,000 yen for one book, 112,000 yen for three books). They have also collaborated with "NTT Docomo" to hold the "Ie Love Zoku Photo Exhibition."
