Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store is hosting the "Nihonbashi Book Share Cafe" in the central hall on the first floor of the main building, where staff members share their favorite books with shoppers. The event runs until June 3rd. The central hall, with its atrium on the first floor, features an approximately 8-meter-long wooden desk, packed with books brought by staff members. The total number of books collected is approximately 400. Books are also placed on shelves and round tables throughout the venue, allowing customers to freely pick up and read. The genres range from essays, mystery, business, history, philosophy, art, sports, and manga. The cafe is also collaborating with the "Hajimarino Cafe," which opened on the seventh floor of the store in March of this year, allowing shoppers to sit and sip tea or coffee while reading. There will also be events for both adults and children to enjoy during the event. Events will include a reading of a picture story donated by a closed elementary school (1:00 PM and 3:30 PM on the 31st, maximum 10 people), as well as a workshop to create your own personal book (11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM on June 1st, maximum 10 people). A representative said, "Currently, new commercial facilities and tourist spots are popping up in Nihonbashi, and we are seeing an increase in new customer groups, such as couples and families. The number of customers visiting Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi has also increased by 120% compared to last year. We want this cafe to be a place where people can drop in casually and communicate. We hope everyone will come and visit."
