Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi opens its first concept shop, "Hajimari no Cafe"

Mar 12, 2014

Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store will open a cafe-centered, multi-purpose concept shop, "Hajimarino Cafe," on the 7th floor of the main building on March 26th.

The shop offers a variety of lifestyle experiences, including food culture, travel, the outdoors, hobbies, and crafts, to customers who want to live an active and free life, even as they get older. As a place to encounter "first-time" experiences, the shop's lineup focuses not only on merchandise but also on hands-on content. The shop will focus on selling experiential products based on the theme of "things and experiences you don't know where to go to buy."
The sales floor will cover approximately 535 square meters, and approximately 40 companies are expected to participate at the time of opening. It will be comprised of five zones based on the three keywords "PLAY," "SHIFT," and "LEARN."

The experience-based pop-up shop zone, "GATE," will regularly rotate shops to introduce various "firsts" in the world. The first grand opening event, titled "A Story Begins with Nature," will offer treehouse and organic farming experiences, proposing a new way of living in harmony with nature. The "Tools" zone will offer cameras and mobile devices, as well as photography seminars and photo services, to promote a lifestyle that utilizes IT. The "Gear" zone will offer a selection of trekking items from the outdoor brand Mont-bell, and sell "experiences" in combination with experience tours and seminars. The "Guide" zone will introduce Mitsukoshi's "Health Club" meal delivery service, which delivers meals designed by a registered dietitian, and the "Raku-Raku Maid Takkyubin" custom-made housekeeping service, to support health management and a comfortable lifestyle. The "FOREST" zone will offer organic products, seasonings, kitchen goods, and ornamental plants, and will also have an open space where customers can eat and drink. Workshops are held daily on a variety of themes, including food, lifestyle, and the outdoors, and chefs, baristas, and other professionals in their fields directly impart top-notch tips and ways to enjoy the experience that you can incorporate into your own life.
