May 12, 2014

British shoe brand Nicholas Kirkwood will open its first pop-up shop in Japan on the second floor of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku department store from May 12th to 27th. The shop will feature classic pieces as well as the latest 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection, featuring graphic lace as a key motif. The brand's signature face-motif slip-ons are crafted from leather and velvet and come in a variety of colors. The High Summer capsule collection features items in hula-print satin and espadrilles crafted with delicate embroidery techniques. The interior, featuring the brand's signature zigzag pattern, was designed by architect Mehrnoosh Khadivi of Craftwork Studio. The Galaxy S5 smartphone, a collaboration with Samsung Electronics, and its premium zigzag-patterned case will also be on display. Nicholas Kirkwood was founded in 2005. The brand is beloved by royalty and celebrities alike, including Beyoncé, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Jessica Parker. It has flagship stores in London, New York, and Las Vegas, and has opened pop-up shops at places like Maria Luisa, a select shop within Printemps Paris. Designer Kirkwood won the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2013 and Accessory Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards from 2010 to 2013. In September 2013, the LVMH Group announced that it would acquire the brand.
