Three playlists featuring songs influenced by Paul Smith on Apple Music

Aug 10, 2016

Paul Smith has been appointed a curator for Apple Music, Apple's music subscription service, and has created three playlists featuring songs that have influenced his tastes and career. The three playlists began streaming on Apple Music on August 8th. Each playlist focuses on a specific aspect of Paul Smith's relationship with music. The first playlist, "Around the World in 20 Tracks," features classic songs from the 1960s and 1970s, a period that he often returns to, such as "Astral Weeks" (Van Morrison), "A Day in the Life" (The Beatles), and "Living for the City" (Stevie Wonder). The second playlist, "Something Old, Something New...," is comprised of four parts that blend the past and present, inspired by the European proverb "Something Four" (which means having four things will bring you happiness). Selections include Touch Me (The Doors) and You Can't Always Get What You Want (The Rolling Stones).

The third playlist, "From Herbie to Holiday (Paul Smith and Jazz)," is filled with precious memories of listening to live music in small live venues in his youth, such as My Favorite Things (John Coltrane) and Milestones (Miles Davis).
