The Hobonichi Techo 2017, which begins in January 2017, will be released on September 1st with a lineup of 79 designs. The 2016 edition sold a record 610,000 copies, making it the number one planner at Loft for 12 consecutive years. In addition to strong domestic sales, orders from overseas have been increasing year by year, with overseas shipments increasing 9.7 times in the two years from the 2014 edition to the 2016 edition. This year's lineup includes the original, cousin, and week-sized planners created in collaboration with art director and artist Sebastian Masuda. In addition, outdoor brand Snow Peak has released a spacious cover that can store stationery and everyday items all in one place, and designer Tokiko Nakajima's POTTENBURN TOHKII planner covers made with a special mesh fabric. Other items on sale include a notebook with a painting-like motif based on printmaker Kazuo Mochizuki's masterpiece "Polar Bear," a leather cover created with art director Naomi Hirabayashi, an indigo blue notebook created in collaboration with fashion brand niuhans, and a "MOTHER 2" cover in three designs. The wildly popular mina perhonen and CACUMA collections are also back this year with new looks. mina perhonen will be releasing covers featuring two textiles that designer Akira Minagawa cherishes as "important patterns that have been around since the brand's inception." One is "bird," which has been used on various items such as clothing and bags since its launch in 2000, and the other is "tambourine," which has previously appeared twice as a notebook cover. Additionally, four designs of "piece," made from leftover fabric from the mina perhonen atelier will be available for sale by lottery. Kakuma, a brand designed by Yoshie Watanabe of KIGI, is releasing a cover featuring roses, tulips, pansies, and dandelions drawn in a single chain stitch stroke.
