SAZABY LEAGUE has signed a formal agreement to expand Tiger, a Scandinavian goods brand created by Copenhagen-based Zebra A/S, into Japan.
On the 1st, SAZABY LEAGUE acquired 50% of the outstanding shares of Zebra Japan Co., Ltd., Tiger's Japanese subsidiary. The joint venture with Zebra A/S began operations. The two companies agreed on the lifestyle-focused values of both companies. SAZABY LEAGUE believes the agreement will create significant synergies for the two companies, as it will help SAZABY LEAGUE expand its group business portfolio, while Zebra believes SAZABY LEAGUE will gain expertise in store development and other areas.
Going forward, SAZABY LEAGUE plans to open stores with floor space of 300 to 500 square meters in major cities across Japan, primarily in street-level locations, commercial facilities, and station buildings. The first Tokyo store is scheduled to open this fiscal year, with expansion to 50 stores expected in the medium term. By improving its logistics infrastructure and increasing the number of items handled, the company aims to offer products on a scale comparable to its European stores.
Tiger opened as a small retail store in Copenhagen in 1995 and now operates over 220 stores in 19 countries. In Japan, the first Asian store, "TIGER COPENHAGEN," opened in Americamura, Osaka, in July last year, but was more popular than expected and sold out, forcing the store to temporarily close twice. All items are priced at under 2,000 yen, with highly designed items available for just a few hundred yen. A wide range of items are available, from home goods and office supplies to hobby goods and fashion items.
