Inspired by HRH The Princess's lifelong passion and knowledge of the plight of cheetahs across the African continent, this limited edition watch showcases Backes & Strauss' ingenuity, with a portion of proceeds donated to cheetah conservation efforts.

"Time is of the essence in protecting the world's remaining cheetahs. Currently, there are approximately 7,000 cheetahs left, and their numbers are declining," Her Royal Highness said in making the announcement.
"I am particularly excited about this partnership as it will raise awareness of this issue and benefit the Endangered Species Centre in South Africa and the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia."
Her Royal Highness's interest in cheetahs dates back to her childhood in Mozambique, where she personally raised an orphaned cub named Vitesse. She then taught Vitesse how to survive on her own in the wild and released him back into the wild.
Her Royal Highness the Princess Diana's autobiographical book, "A Cheetah's Tale," published in 2017, draws on this experience and explores the incredible bond between animals and humans. Her Royal Highness is also currently a Royal Patron of both of these public interest organizations.

"This partnership with Her Royal Highness the Princess Diana is an incredibly exciting new project for Backes & Strauss," added Valquez Canajian, CEO of Backes & Strauss. "This project has given us the opportunity to create a stunning, one-of-a-kind watch, while also raising much-needed funds to support conservation projects that save these beautiful felines from extinction."
For the Vitesse collection, the dials are a tribute to the art of "métiers d'art," featuring cheetahs hand-painted in a variety of materials, including enamel, mother-of-pearl, silk, and green jade. The delicately crafted dials are surrounded by ideal-cut diamonds set in 18K rose gold cases. The collection also includes a model featuring a cheetah pattern on the bezel set with natural vivid yellow and black diamonds, showcasing the finest craftsmanship at Bax & Strauss, bringing to life the powerful and noble figure of the Vitesse watch.
