Fashion designer Isao Kaneko was born on July 15, 1939, in Yamaguchi Prefecture. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, he enrolled in Setsu Mode Seminar. His classmates at Bunka Fashion College included Kenzo Takada, Mitsuhiro Matsuda, and Junko Koshino, known as the "9th Flower Class." After graduating from Setsu, he joined Ad Center and worked on advertising and other production. In 1973, he founded the brand "PINK HOUSE," which became a sensation with its feminine and romantic designs. He also managed brands such as "INGEBORG" and "Karl Helmut." In 1990, he founded Kaneko Isao and launched the eponymous brand "KANEKO ISAO." In 1994, he left Pink House to focus on Kaneko Isao. In the fall/winter of the same year, the brand "WONDERFUL WORLD" was also launched.

The business continued to expand with the launch of Kaneko Isao's men's line, but Kaneko himself took a break from working as a designer in the fall of 2007.

Pink House was absorbed by Melrose in 2011. In 2012, the brand released collaborative items with "THEATRE PRODUCTS" and "Beautiful People" at the Isetan Shinjuku store.
