Commune de Paris opens first standalone shop in Japan at Gile

Jul 25, 2013

Parisian creative collective COMMUNE DE PARIS will open a limited-time shop on the third floor of GYRE in Omotesando, Tokyo, on August 9th. This marks the brand's first standalone store in Japan, running until September 8th. The shop follows on from the pop-up shop that opened in April this year in the Paradise district of Paris' 10th arrondissement. Graphic T-shirts and accessories will be sold. The lineup includes collaborative items and iPhone cases with French illustrator Jeremy Schneider and Dutch graphic artist Stefan Glerum from the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection, which has the themes of "PARIS" and "FIRE." Limited-edition items, previously only available in Paris, include the "Commune de Paradis Special T-shirt" (8,925 yen) and an iPhone case with a limited-edition graphic (4,935 yen).

Commune de Paris is a creative group founded by three Parisians in 2010. They produce products that combine traditional artisan techniques with contemporary art. In 2011, they began selling their products in Japan on a full scale. They have collaborated with Dieci Corso Como Comme des Garçons, tableware manufacturer Astier de Villatte, and glove brand Maison Fabre, among others.
