Tokyu Hands opens its first store in Kyoto, with Daimaru Kyoto as a neighboring store

Jul 5, 2013

In June 2014, Daimaru Kyoto will open its first Tokyu Hands store in the Kyoto area on the first to fourth floors of the Toichi Building, located across Shijo Street from the main store. This marks the first Tokyu Hands store in the area in five years, since House of Jill Stuart in 2009. This marks the ninth Tokyu Hands store in six locations, following other nearby retailers such as Louis Vuitton, A.P.C., Emporio Armani, nano universe, and Bottega Veneta.

Tokyu Hands currently operates 28 stores (including four franchises) and 20 specialty stores nationwide. The new Kyoto store will span 3,300 square meters and will carry a yet-to-be-determined selection of products. This Kyoto store, which has been rumored but never realized, is attracting attention for its location in Hokomachi, the Nagatobokucho district that is home to the Gion Festival's signature floats.
