Dior has released "Dior by Avedon," a photo book by photographer Richard Avedon, one of the brand's closest collaborators. The book will be released in France and the UK on September 23rd, and in the US on October 27th. Richard Avedon has been photographing Dior since 1947, when Christian Dior showed his first haute couture collection. His lens faithfully captures the essence of the New Look, including the feminine and bold creations of the time and the sensation they inspired, resulting in powerful and vibrant images. Richard Avedon continued his connection with the house even after Christian Dior's death, leaving behind a prolific body of work, including portraits of Yves Saint Laurent. He also had a keen interest in discovering new talent, discovering China Machado and Jean Shrimpton, and photographing them in Dior attire in 1964. He also enjoyed working with the leading models of the time, immortalizing the likes of Twiggy, Veruschka, and Penelope Tree wearing Dior.

This new book looks back on Richard Avedon's relationship with the House through iconic images. Beginning with a foreword by Justin Picardi, editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar UK, the book progresses through 150 photographs and the recollections of Jacqueline de Rive, a fashion icon and socialite of the time. The afterword is by historian Olivier Saillard, director of the Galliera Museum of Fashion.
