LACOSTE will release its 2015-2015 Autumn/Winter capsule collection inspired by the tennis look of the 1970s.
Brand founder René Lacoste, who invented many items that revolutionized tennis, was the first to wear a short-sleeved polo shirt on the tennis court instead of the classic white shirt. Lacoste's first polo shirt, introduced in 1927, remains a cornerstone of the brand's wardrobe today.
Lacoste's current creative director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, is inspired by this success story and has released a capsule collection inspired by the tennis look of the 1970s. The theme is a quote from Baptista, who spoke to a journalist who was unaware that René Lacoste invented the polo shirt: "Rene did it first."
The lineup includes three items: polo shirts, sweatshirts, and sweaters. Bold graphics such as "Tennis anyone?", "Rene" and "Gazon" emblazon the brand's deep connection to tennis, appearing on zip-up sweatshirts, jersey sweaters and polo shirts, while the polo shirt, René Lacoste's most beloved invention, also features the words "Rene did it first."
