J.C. Chandor's latest film, "American Dreamer," featuring costumes by Giorgio Armani, has been released. The story is set in New York City in 1981. Abel, an immigrant, and his wife, Anna, build an oil company based on clean business practices amid the cutthroat oil industry in a year rife with crime and violence. Shortly after investing all their fortune as a down payment on land to expand their business, troubles begin to pile up, with someone trying to thwart Abel's success: the oil heist, suspicions of tax evasion, and threats to his family. This socially conscious drama garnered critical acclaim, receiving 40 nominations out of 24 awards and winning six awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globe Awards.
Armani provided the costumes for Jessica Chastain, who stars in the film. Chic daytime and evening dresses, stylish coats, and other pieces were designed by Giorgio Armani himself, inspired by the 1980s, as well as items from the brand's archives.
Jessica and Armani have had a close relationship for several years, and she even wore a Giorgio Armani long dress to the 2013 Academy Awards, where she was nominated for Best Actress for her role in "Zero Dark Thirty."
"American Dreamer" will be released sequentially at TOHO Cinemas Chanter and other theaters nationwide.
