"Even while we were unable to sail for more than a year, we never stopped working, innovating and doubling down on our brand investment to deliver memorable experiences that exceed our guests' expectations," said NCL President and CEO Harry Sommer. "In addition to the exciting news that we will be able to resume cruising this July, I am incredibly proud and happy to announce the beginning of an incredible story with Norwegian Prima, the first of our unrivaled Prima Class ships." "Norwegian Prima represents the evolution of our brand, blending our guest-first philosophy with a spirit of innovation. It embodies everything our guests love about NCL and even raises the bar. It's a cruise ship designed with the guest in mind," he continued. "Norwegian Prima was built in Marghera by Italian shipyard Fincantieri. The hull art, designed by Italian street artist Manuel Di Rita (known as "Pita"), covers the entire forward section of the ship—a first for an NCL ship. The concept designs for the ship's various restaurants, staterooms, and public areas were created by internationally acclaimed architects, including Italian designer Piero Lissoni, as well as acclaimed architectural firms Rockwell Group, SMC Design, Sweden's Tilberg Design, YSA Design, and Miami-based Studio Dado."

Regarding the origin of the Prima name, Sommer explained, "'Prima,' meaning 'first' in Italian, is the most natural fit for Norwegian, a company with a legacy of industry firsts, and it also pays homage to our new shipbuilding partner in Italy, Fincantieri."

Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, said, "We are honored to partner with Norwegian Cruise Line in the development of its next-generation class of ships. Norwegian Prima is just the start of our collaboration. Including Prima, we plan to deliver a total of six ships, all with spacious and imaginative designs that will elevate the guest experience to a new level. As we emerge from the current crisis, this announcement offers hope for the cruise industry and is a testament to Fincantieri's global leadership in this industry."

"We purposefully innovated and pushed the boundaries of cruise cruising, creating Norwegian Prima with more space, more imaginative art and design, and world-class, guest-centric service," concluded Sommer.

Norwegian Prima offers the highest staffing levels and space-to-seat ratios of any new ship in the contemporary and premium cruise category, enabling an unparalleled guest experience. With 13 suite categories, she offers the most at sea, the largest number of three-bedroom suites of any new ship, the largest number of inside, oceanview, and balcony staterooms in the brand's history, and the largest number of bathrooms and showers in any standard stateroom category. She also boasts the most outdoor deck space of any new ship, with the largest total pool deck of any NCL ship, multiple infinity pools, and expansive outdoor walkways for enhanced ocean and sea breeze experiences.

The Haven by Norwegian, the exclusive suite area on Norwegian Prima, is the brand's most exclusive and centralized suite complex, offering an unparalleled luxury cruise experience. Spread across eight decks, the suites and public areas are based on an ultra-premium concept, with keycard access only, making them a ship within a ship. They boast the most luxurious specifications on board, with private amenities and exclusive service. For the first time in the brand's history, all 107 Haven Suites have been relocated aft (at the rear of the ship), providing access to The Haven's exclusive public areas on decks 16 and 17, close to the private elevators. The Haven's design has evolved to open up even more to the ocean, and for the first time, all public areas offer ocean and destination views. The Haven Courtyard has been transformed into the spacious Haven Sundeck, featuring an infinity pool overlooking the ship's wake, and an outdoor spa with a glass-enclosed sauna and cold room.

Pushing the boundaries of exclusive design in a new concept, The Haven's public areas and suites were all designed by Piero Lissoni, one of Italy's top designers. The elegant and sophisticated design of the Haven Sundeck, Haven Restaurant, Haven Lounge & Bar, and the outdoor spa with a sauna and cold room have been created.

Onda by Scarpetta, which debuted on Norwegian Encore in 2019 and is also available on Norwegian Spirit, is an award-winning contemporary restaurant rooted in Italian cuisine, beloved for its rich, bold flavors. Designed by Studio Dado, the restaurant's interior exudes an elegant, modern feel, boasting expansive ocean views both indoors and out. The same studio also designed Norwegian's exclusive fine-dining Mexican restaurant, Los Lobos, which offers a contemporary ambiance and modern take on traditional Mexican cuisine. The revamped Local Bar & Grill, with its upscale beach club atmosphere, offers cocktails and classic American fare accompanied by live music.
