To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Shu Uemura Beauty Boutique, the limited edition "Unmask Collection" cleansing oil will be released on January 11th. Shu Uemura began his career as a makeup artist in the 1950s and worked on Hollywood films, where he experienced the difficulty of recreating the same makeup look every day and the importance of cleansing and washing your face. Based on his philosophy that "makeup begins and ends with cleansing," he discovered and brought back the "Unmask Cleansing Beauty Oil" (commonly known as "Unmask") from Hollywood, which became the origin of the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, which now sells one bottle every seven seconds worldwide. This cleansing oil, which washes away both makeup and sebum in one bottle and eliminates the need for double cleansing, has become synonymous with Shu Uemura. This cleansing oil collection comes in limited-edition packaging that pays homage to the "Unmask Cleansing Beauty Oil," reflecting Uemura's feelings for the cleansing oil. The design was created by Paris-based illustrator Tsuyoshi Hirano, whose work has been featured for world-renowned fashion brands such as Cartier, Issey Miyake, and Celine. The collection includes five products, including the brand's highest-end cleansing oil, "Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil" (450ml/12,075 yen), which was Uemura's last project and also contains skin-beautifying benefits; "Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil" (450ml/9,450 yen), which removes dead skin cells including melanin to reveal translucent skin; and "High Performance Cleansing Oil Advanced Classic" (450ml/7,875 yen), a classic in the "Unmask" vein.
