Pleats Please Issey Miyake performs a dance performance at Midtown. 24 dancers

Jan 31, 2013

A dance performance commemorating the 20th anniversary of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE and the Japanese launch of the perfume "Parfum PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE" was held at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo, on Wednesday, January 30th. The performance took place in the Galleria basement atrium, at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Twenty-four dancers, clad in vibrant colors like pink, orange, and yellow, filled the standing-room-only audience and the stage, dancing and joining in, expressing the joy of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE. Named "Please, pleats," PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is a brand that embodies Issey Miyake's dream of creating clothing as timeless as T-shirts and jeans.

Made using a unique "product pleating" technique in which the garment is sewn to shape, folded, and then pleated, the lightweight, wrinkle-free, and functional design, which can be machine washed and worn straight away, has revolutionized the lifestyles of women around the world and is still beloved today, 20 years after the brand's official launch.

Parfum Pleats Please Issey Miyake Eau de Toilette is a new perfume inspired by Pleats Please Issey Miyake. It has a captivating fragrance that harmonizes sparkling dynamism, freshness, and abundant floral nectar, and comes in a polyhedral bottle with a cap designed to symbolize a flower's calyx. The dance performance will be directed by Daniel Ezralow, an outstanding dancer and choreographer who has been active on various stages around the world since the late 1970s, and who has worked in a variety of fields including opera, theater, musicals, music, and film. He has also worked on many of Issey Miyake's shows both in Japan and overseas, including the Spring/Summer 1994 collection, in which models appeared all at once wearing Pleats Please Issey Miyake, featuring monofilament circular pleats that he called flying saucers, at the show's finale wearing "Alice in Wonderland hats" designed by Akio Hirata. After the performance, Ezralow said, "I gave form to the movement concept of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, and expressed the inseparable image of the new perfume through flowing movements. Unlike my previous runway work, for this choreography I tried to utilize the concepts of PLEATS PLEASE and the perfume and give them life. I also incorporated the idea of being awakened, awakened, and revived through improvisation and dancing, and it also includes my desire to bring happiness to many people through dance. Issey Miyake is one of the few people in the world who embodies creativity and pushes the limits of creativity. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with him."
