Converse's signature shoe, the Jack Purcell, has captivated many famous artists, including Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, Radiohead's Thom Yorke, actor James Dean, and author Ernest Hemingway. A memorial event celebrating the shoe's 80th anniversary has been announced, to be held on July 11th and 12th on the first floor of Spiral Garden in Aoyama, Tokyo. Converse's standard model, the Jack Purcell, was created in 1935 with the help of legendary badminton player Jack Purcell, who was the world champion for 14 consecutive years. Its simple yet sophisticated design continues to captivate many artists today. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Jack Purcell, costume artist Kodue Hibino, who has worked on stage costumes for playwright Hideki Noda and music video costumes for Hikaru Utada, has created ceremonial wear based on the new Jack Purcell. This wear will be on display at the memorial event. In addition, the new "TimeLine" series "JACK PURCELL 80" will also be on display, along with the shoes that inspired it, creating a memorial space where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Jack Purcell. There will also be a photo booth where you can take selfies, and original postcards will be distributed.
