
Agnès B., a designer and renowned cinephile, has announced that her directorial debut, "My Name Is...," will be released in October at Shibuya Uplink and other cinemas nationwide. Agnès B., who has produced Harmony Korine's films and designed costumes for numerous films, including David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive" and Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction," has been passionate about film. "My Name Is..." marks her directorial debut under her real name, Agnès Troublé. This road movie follows the bizarre journey of a 12-year-old girl who escapes her abusive father and her Scottish driver. Agnès B. wrote the screenplay herself, inspired by a newspaper article about a certain incident she read more than 10 years ago. Agnès B. said of the film, "I wanted to depict the encounters one experiences on a journey and the pure freedom detached from everyday life." Lou-Lélia Dumairiac plays the 12-year-old girl, and Douglas Gordon plays the driver. Supporting her are renowned French film actors such as Sylvie Testud and Jacques Bonnafé. The film was shot with the cooperation of agnès b.'s friends. The music features Jean-Benoît Dunkel of French electropop duo Air, and American alternative rock band Sonic Youth also contributed previously unreleased material. Other highlights include an appearance by Italian political philosopher Antonio Negri in a scene shot by director Jonas Mekas, and the film's stellar cast of artists and cultural figures adds to the film's appeal. "My Name Is..." opens nationwide in October, starting at Shibuya Uplink.
