Ginza Mitsukoshi and underwear brand BETONES are teaming up to host a design contest for third-year students in the Apparel Design Department at Bunka Fashion College, a group of aspiring designers. The contest invites submissions for boxer shorts designs based on the theme of the four seasons, a symbol of Japanese culture. The winning design will be commercialized. Ten finalists were selected from 73 submissions, passing the first round of judging. A popularity vote is currently being held on the Ginza Mitsukoshi official website (see "LINK" at the bottom of the article for the URL) to determine which of the ten designs will be commercialized. Voting is open until 8:00 PM on July 21st. Five people who voted for the selected design will be randomly selected to receive a pair of the actual boxer shorts. The lineup of works includes 10 unique pieces, such as "Shoe Pants," which features various shoes to wear throughout the four seasons, painted with a unique watercolor touch; "Safari in Season," which features animal silhouettes in a gradient camouflage pattern inspired by the changing colors of leaves; and "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter," which uses lips as a motif and features mouth movements to create the four seasons.
