Miu Miu's first fragrance unveiled, with a bottle modelled on the Matelasse bag and a lily of the valley scent

Jul 16, 2015

Miu Miu, born in 1993, has unveiled its first fragrance. While the release date is still a ways off, on November 4th, following a July 4th unveiling event in Paris, a launch event was held in Japan today, the 16th, at the brand's Ginza boutique, inviting celebrities and press members. The lineup of attendees will be introduced in a separate article at a later date.

Miu Miu fans may recognize it at a glance. The bottle design is inspired by the iconic Matelassé bag. The feminine, classic blue contrasts with the clear red disc on the cap. This playful color combination evokes the brand's signature.

This contrast is also evident in the scent. The initial scent is youthful floral notes of lily of the valley, jasmine, and rose. This freshness is contrasted with a lingering, woody, and memorable scent. The final note is Akigalawood, a fragrance that is rare for use in perfume, and is extracted from the herb patchouli.

The Miu Miu Ginza boutique, which hosted the launch event, was decorated with a luxurious one-night-only display. The walls were lined with bottles of the new eau de parfum. Large, medium and small eau de parfum bottles were also lined up on the tables, with lily of the valley flowers, the main scent, placed next to them. An extra-large bottle was also made available for display purposes. Along with the fragrance, advertising visuals photographed by Steven Meisel were also released. Stacy Martin, who played the heroine in the film Nymphomaniac, will serve as the first image girl. The lineup includes "Miu Miu Eau de Parfum" (30ml 7,800 yen, 50ml 10,400 yen, 100ml 15,000 yen), "Shower Gel" (200ml 6,500 yen), and "Body Cream" (150ml 9,700 yen). Prior to the nationwide release, it will be available in advance at some department stores and boutiques in early October.
