Y's has expressed the calligraphy of calligrapher Mariko Kinoshita in clothing. The capsule collection will be released and pop-up stores featuring the project will be set up in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Shizuoka and Fukuoka. The pop-up stores will open for limited periods starting on April 21st at Isetan Shinjuku in Tokyo (until May 4th), followed by JR Kyoto Isetan in Kyoto from May 5th to 11th, Hiroshima Mitsukoshi in Hiroshima from May 11th to 24th, Shizuoka Isetan in Shizuoka from May 12th to 18th, and Iwataya Main Store in Fukuoka from May 12th to 18th. They will offer a special introduction to the collection, which depicts a new worldview in black and white.

The Y's Calligraphy Collection is inspired by the work of Kinoshita, who explores calligraphy as a traditional culture passed down since ancient times, drawing inspiration from the Zen philosophy of "Furyumonji" (non-reliance on characters) and approaching the essence of calligraphy with modern methodology. The calligraphy, cut like fragments, is linked to the process of cutting a single piece of fabric into parts for the clothing pattern, creating a sculptural expression in which the calligraphy is cut using the pattern and reconstructed into clothing. The blurred and smudged calligraphy drapes and flows, sometimes like splash paint or abstract painting, and is composed on the clothing. The clothing is not written as readable characters, but rather as text (aya: various shapes and patterns that appear on the surface of an object), evoking the delicate sensibility inherent in the details of calligraphy. Beyond or even before meaning, the message and inherent beauty play on the clothing, creating a collection of everyday wear. The back-button blouses and dresses are beautiful, while the oversized shirts and wide-leg bottoms are items that can be enjoyed by both men and women. Additionally, this capsule collection will feature one-of-a-kind pieces in which Kinoshita writes calligraphy on shirt fabric, which is then sewn into a garment. This shirt dress, crafted from calligraphy, will be unveiled at the pop-up store opening on Wednesday, April 21st.

- As proof that it is a part of the Y's Calligraphy Collection, all items in the capsule collection will have a tag bearing "Y's" written by Kinoshita, and a limited number of items will have pieces from the Furu Moji series attached, created by cutting up and reconstructing Kinoshita's original calligraphy. The special feeling of sharing a piece of the work, the propagation of which comes from chance encounters through this project. This special piece will spread as "calligraphy" and "clothing" meet
- In addition, a handkerchief printed with "Y's" written by Kinoshita will be given as a gift on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who spend 22,000 yen or more (tax included) on the Y's Calligraphy Collection.
