Spirits from 《Shangri-La》
A paradise said to lie deep within Tibet, where people and cultures from East and West intersect.
The protagonists of this story are a prince and princess, born into an ethnic group with an ancient, traditional culture and deep faith.
Now fashionistas living in the city, these two dress in their own unique "couture grunge" style that combines grunge culture with the folkloric backbone of their roots and a touch of traditional elegance. At the very end of the west...the beginning of the east... Even higher and deeper than Tibet lies Shangri-La, where dragons and lions frolic, mysterious fruits and flowers bloom in abundance, and at night they sleep beneath a starry sky... These people have come to CITY from such a magical place, always with love, freedom, and peace in their hearts, always kind and proud, loving music, with a latte in hand, speaking several languages, riding bikes instead of horses, meeting in the city, roaming about, and living their lives. ●《Shangri-La》 Jacquard
KEITA MARUYAMA The theme of 2021AW is "Spirits from 《Shangri-La》". The Shangri-La Gobelins are intricately woven tapestries, evoking the image of a legendary land where people and cultures crossed east and west. Featuring imaginary motifs like dragons and lions, the piece transports the viewer to a fantasy world. This trench coat showcases the charm of this fabric with a refined, basic design, and features a detachable leopard-print boa collar. The leopard-print collar is made from Ecopet® eco-friendly polyester.
●Cowichan Knit
The Shangri-La Cowichan Knit series evokes the image of a legendary land where people and cultures crossed east and west. Featuring imaginary motifs like dragons and lions, as well as a large Buddha image on the back, this handmade knit is typical of KEITA MARUYAMA and is not found in basic Cowichan knits. It is an intricate knit made by alternating between multiple colors of yarn, and features a buffalo toggle button on the front, with attention to detail.
●KENZO FOREVER
This series was created in tribute to KENZO designer Kenzo Takada, who has had a major influence on KEITA MARUYAMA's collections. The thin, smooth, and crisp worsted wool is woven using wool shirley, a rare wool that is finer than merino wool. This fabric, which was often used in KENZO collections in the 1980s, has been hand-printed to create vibrant flowers. The margins and overlaps of the print, which are unique to the technique of printing each colour by hand, also give it a nostalgic feel. The long dress is gathered generously, giving it a soft silhouette that is tightly cinched at the waist, and the asymmetrical hemline gives it the feel of a vintage dress.

Many men's items will be available in this collection for the first time in a long time. This unisex, off-the-shoulder hoodie features a relaxed fit with dropped shoulder lines, and features a large print of a close-up Buddha eye motif inspired by the image of "Spirits from Shangri-La," in a fun design and color scheme that is characteristic of KEITA MARUYAMA. The track pants are made of colorful nylon material with a vintage color scheme, and feature fabrics with different textures sandwiched in between, making them both stylish and extremely easy to move in.

In 2012, he designed uniforms for Japan Airlines (JAL Group)'s flight attendants and ground service department, and in 2014 the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary. In 2020, he announced a collaboration with GU. In 2020, he founded KM DESIGN STUDIO and became its representative director.
