Starting December 21st, PASS THE BATON's Marunouchi and Omotesando stores will be collaborating with the film "Millepied: The Man Who Challenged the Paris Opera," which will be released at Bunkamura Le Cinema and other venues on December 23rd. "Millepied: The Man Who Challenged the Paris Opera" is set at the Paris Opera, a ballet institution that has long been known for showcasing the world's finest art. Following the retirement of Brigitte Lefèbvre, who served as artistic director for nearly 20 years, Benjamin Millepied was selected as the youngest artistic director in history, beating out a number of other strong contenders. The film follows the 40 days leading up to the completion of "Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward," a new work by Benjamin Millepied, and depicts the precious backstage of the Opera with stylish and stunning visual beauty. Upon becoming artistic director, Benjamin Millepied rejected the hierarchy and selected young dancers instead of étoiles. He also brought bold changes to this prestigious, traditional company, including the first time in its long history that a half-black dancer was cast in a leading role. However, Millepied's unorthodox approach began to create friction with those around him. A series of other problems, including dancer injuries, strikes, and costume malfunctions, beset the company. Will the performance be able to open safely? The cast includes the next generation of stars of the Paris Opera, including Léonore Baulac, Hugo Marchand, and Germain Louvet. The film's extensive use of slow motion beautifully portrays the dancers' elegant and dynamic movements. In collaboration with Pass the Baton, a paint-over bag (1,500 yen) featuring a scene from the film is available for sale. The bags are all one-of-a-kind, with new designs added to used shopping bags, and come in three print colors. You can also purchase them at a special price by showing your cinema ticket stub.
