me ISSEY MIYAKE began shipping its Spring/Summer 2017 collection on December 1st. The collection was inspired by Cuba, whose historic streets, lively Latin music, the sparkling blue Caribbean Sea and scorching sun, and vibrant tropical flowers and birds are all incorporated into T-shirts, dresses, coats, and other items. Items released in December include coats and pants made from a new, lightweight and soft material using A-POC, a computer-assisted manufacturing process that uses pleating to create garments from a single thread, as well as stretch T-shirts and cardigans with geometric patterns inspired by cheerful Caribbean musical chords. A sheer crepe inspired by the silhouette of an oil lamp, a treasure-hunting essential, will also be released. By adjusting the string at the hem of the dress, you can create a variety of styles, from long to tunic length. Other items in the lineup include spats featuring an arranged cord pattern, a soft silk wool stole, and a pleated bag reminiscent of ripples on the ocean's surface.

Also available in stores from January 6th are tops featuring a floral print of colorful tropical bird feathers, a WHOLEGARMENT jacket with minimal seams for comfort and lightness, a tropical-colored top made from the new "A-POC PLEAATS" material, and a pleated T-shirt featuring simple lines and accent colors. Also available are angle pants with fan-shaped pleats and a lightweight tote bag with a line pattern ink-jet printed on durable, water-resistant fabric.
