Diesel has unveiled the official uniforms for Italian soccer team AC Milan. The two teams announced a three-year style partnership on September 30, 2016. The first of these two uniforms is an off-field uniform for players and staff. It includes a hooded stretch fleece blazer, a cashmere blouson for cold weather, sleek black jogger jeans, and lace-up shoes with a metal zipper. The jacket features handmade badges, Diesel's iconic mohawk, and AC Milan's signature red and black stripes. The second is an off-site uniform worn by players while traveling. The main uniform is a reversible satin bomber jacket. One side features AC Milan's team colors and badges, while the other, against a black background, represents Diesel and AC Milan's courage, victory, will, and determination. Other design elements include the flags of the cities where the team has won, the initials of Herbert Kilpin, one of the team's founders, the iconic catchphrase "red as fire", as well as symbolic numbers such as "7" for the number of Champions League victories, "78" for Diesel's founding motto, "18" for the number of championship victories, and "1889" for the year AC Milan was founded. Finally, the logo features Renzo Rosso's signature, "enjoy".
Regarding the uniform, Andrea Rosso, Diesel's Licensing Creative Director and creative director for the partnership, said, "This collaboration was a real challenge for us, and we wanted to express our love and passion for fashion and creativity in this project. Of course, we worked on it while keeping in mind that football fans and fashion fans do not necessarily coincide. During the design stage, my team and I explored how we could connect these two groups, as well as comfort, which is a very important element in sports. We blended traditional tailoring with the world of streetwear, adding a touch of rock, denim, and military - three iconic styles of DIESEL. This is how a 'young formal' look characterized by dynamic tailoring was born."
