"LUMIX MEETS BEYOND 2020 BY JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHERS #4," showcasing the works of young Japanese photographers, will be held at the IMA gallery (inside the IMA CONCEPT STORE) in Roppongi, Tokyo, from January 20th to 29th, 2017.
The exhibition is organized by IMA Media Project with the aim of fostering an art photography market in Japan. It was held in Paris at the same time as the world's largest photo fair, PARIS PHOTO, and then toured to Japan. Many of the photographers selected for this exhibition in the past, such as Daisuke Yokota and Yoshinori Mizutani, have gone on to international success. This year, the exhibition was also held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as part of the UNSEEN Photo Festival, one of the world's leading art photography festivals, garnering attention overseas. This exhibition, which marks a triumphant return to Tokyo, will feature works shot with the LUMIX DMC-GX8 by three artists: Azuma Kanako, who creates stories with a unique worldview centered on video; Ishino Ikukazu, who captures modern society with a humorous international perspective; and Udagawa Naohiro, who creates improvisational still lifes. Joining the exhibition will be Ishibashi Hideyuki, Shimizu Harumi, and Komase Yoshimune, making a total of six artists exploring the possibilities of photographic expression beyond the two-dimensional world.
