Actress Lauren Bacall was born on September 16, 1924, in New York, USA. After graduating from high school, she studied acting at the American Drama School and performed primarily on stage. However, she was not popular as an actress, so she gradually gained recognition through modeling, which she began as a parallel artist. She was discovered by Diana Vreeland and appeared on the cover of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar, catching the eye of film director Howard Hawks' wife. This led to her film debut in the 1944 film "Deliverance." She married her co-star in this film, Humphrey Bogart, and they later co-starred in "The Big Three" (1946) and "Key Largo" (1948). She continued to work on stage from the 1960s onwards, winning a Tony Award in 1970. She played the former editor-in-chief of Vogue in the 1994 film "Prêt-à-Porter." She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1996 film Manhattan Rhapsody, and also received an Honorary Award at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2009.

She trained her distinctive husky voice when she appeared in the film Escape Plan. Her unique upward glance, known as "The Look," was also developed during the filming of the same movie.

Charlotte Olympia's 2013 Autumn/Winter collection, which pays homage to the former stars who supported Hollywood's golden age, features shoes designed by Lauren and her husband Bogart.
