Gallery Speak For in Daikanyama will host the female duo Sophie et Chocolat's first solo exhibition, "French Girls School." The exhibition runs from September 13th to 25th.
The exhibition is based on the concept of "a school that values individuality, regardless of skill, and the French girls who attend it." It aims to express the creative attitude that values uniqueness and the background behind it. Over 40 pieces will be on display and for sale, including two-dimensional and semi-three-dimensional works using vintage fabrics, prints, and embroidery, as well as unpublished drawings and collages that have been accumulated as design sketches. Popular staples such as clothing, accessories, pouches, and stationery will also be on display, along with new collections created specifically for the exhibition, as well as miscellaneous goods and artworks created with a variety of collaborators.
Sophie & Chocolat was founded by Kyoko Hatanaka and Chieko Onodera, who were designers at the Daikanyama shop "Curly Collection," after they went independent. They operate through an online shop and create original products, mainly fashion accessories, with a French girls and vintage theme. Their products are sold at the h.p.france roomsSHOP Shinjuku branch and hands be at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku.
