Louis Vuitton unveiled its Fall/Winter 2021 women's collection on Wednesday, March 10th at 2 PM Paris time (10 PM Japan time).
The Fall/Winter 2021 women's collection, created by Women's Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière, unravels an epic tale through a collection that incorporates Fornasetti's magnificent drawings, depicting delicate sculptures that evoke the romance of timeless eras.
The collaborative designs with Fornasetti feature themes and artworks specific to Fornasetti, selected by Nicolas Ghesquière from the Fornasetti Atelier's archive of 13,000 pieces in Milan, in consultation with Barnaba Fornasetti, Artistic Director, and his team. The collection's clothes and accessories combine colours, textures and traditional and modern techniques, including jacquard weaving, embroidery and laser printing, weaving together Fornasetti's exquisitely imagined world with Nicolas Ghesquière's contemporary designs.
Nicolas Ghesquière commented: "For this collaboration, I wanted to use pieces that evoke the continuity that Fornasetti's artistic world continues to exude. His timeless work is a testament to his remarkable hand-painted technique and magical realizations, and I am particularly drawn to the way he rediscovers and reworks his Classical and Roman heritage, adding new references to historical imagery. As a designer who has always loved fashion's ability to simultaneously evoke the past, present and future, I wanted to add new layers to this creative palimpsest."
