Hermès opened its largest boutique in Western Japan at the Nagoya Mitsukoshi Sakae store on the 15th. This is part of a remodeling project the department store has been undergoing since August 2011.
The two-floor store, with a sales floor area of 692.75 square meters, is the second largest in Japan after the Hermès Ginza store in Tokyo's Ginza district. Located on a corner of the department store's facade, it has two entrances, one facing Mitsukoshi and one facing Otsu-dori, giving it the appearance of a street-level store.
The first floor houses men's items. The room-like sales area offers a full selection of ready-to-wear, shoes, hats, belts, and more. Other items include jewelry, watches, and perfumes. The second floor houses women's items as well as the home collection, including saddlery, leather goods, and furniture. This is Hermès' fifth store nationwide and the first in the Nagoya area to carry the home collection.
Men's blousons and watches are available exclusively in this store. Some scarves have also been released in advance.
The interior design was handled by RDAI (Rena Dumas Architecture Interieur), a French architectural design firm that has previously worked on the interiors of Hermès' shops, including the Daimaru Kobe store and the Sèvres Paris store.
