New York-based underwear brand Hanky Panky has opened its first Japanese store in Omotesando, Tokyo.
The brand's underwear is made in the USA using high-quality stretch lace and cotton for a stress-free fit, and is available in over 20 basic colors, as well as a colorful variety of seasonal prints. The store offers a wide range of items, including the brand's iconic low-rise "Thanga" shorts, as well as boyshorts, bras, camisoles, and sleepwear, all displayed in a setting reminiscent of a woman's room.
Also opening on the second floor is RUDE BOY CAFE+BAR, a French-Vietnamese café and bar overseen by Akira Watanabe of AW Kitchen, a restaurant with branches nationwide and headquartered in Meguro, Tokyo. Enjoy a menu that combines French and Vietnamese cuisine, including "Panh Xeo," a classic Vietnamese dish of shrimp and vegetables wrapped in a thin, turmeric-flavored dough and served with lettuce and herbs, and "Spicy Red Curry" served in a Staub pot. They also offer "Dutch Baby Pancakes" baked in a Dutch oven and a daily changing lunch menu. Drinks include original "Fresh Cocktails" made with tomatoes and mangoes, and colorful "Cream Sodas" inspired by Hanky Panky's colors. Open from 11:30 AM to 5:00 AM. Hanky Panky was founded in 1977 by Gale Epstein, who continues to serve as creative director. The brand was named "Hanky" after the brand's handmade lingerie line, which was made from handkerchiefs. The brand's products are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and are available at Neiman Marcus and Ron Herman. It is sold in department stores and select shops in over 30 countries around the world, including Excelsior in Italy and Selfridges in London, and is also a favorite of celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton, and Beyoncé.
