Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookstore "NADiff" will introduce a recommended book. This time, we'll be introducing NADiff du Champ in Ginza, Tokyo.
■ "Le Case: The Houses" by Aoi Huber Kono
This is a picture book by Aoi Huber Kono, an artist based in southern Switzerland. As you may have guessed from the name, his father, Takashi Kono, was one of Japan's pioneering graphic designers who participated in the Nippon Kobo studio run by Yonosuke Natori. His partner was Max Huber, one of the leading designers in 20th-century graphic design. Max Huber was in charge of the graphic design for this book, making it a collaborative work between the husband and wife. The original version was published in 1964, and this edition is a reprint.
Various "houses," such as the "Stylish House" and the "Grape House," are drawn with delicate lines in muted colors, echoing the bilingual Italian-Japanese story. Filled with tranquil richness, they bring warmth in the cold winter.
From November 21st, NADiff du Champ will be holding a special feature on Aoi Huber. This book, as well as ceramics, bags, and other works by Aoi Huber Kono, recommended as Christmas gifts, will be on sale.
