Dutch photographer Johan van der Keuken's first solo exhibition in Japan opens at Ebisu POST

Nov 23, 2015

Dutch photographer Johan van der Keuken's first solo exhibition in Japan will be held at POST in Ebisu, Tokyo, from November 23rd. Johan van der Keuken is a photographer who has also worked as a writer and documentary filmmaker. Over his 42-year career, he has produced 55 documentaries, six of which have won eight awards. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the release of his first compact photobook, "Wij zijn 17," produced when he was 17 years old. Foci Press, a joint publishing label of IMA PHOTOBOOKS and POST, is publishing the book in English and Japanese. His black-and-white photographs of his friends, while meticulously crafted in terms of composition and lighting, convey a naturalistic, naturalistic style that reveals a remarkable sense of style hard to believe he was only 17 years old at the time. In addition, "Les Copains" will also be published, a collection of unpublished works shot around the same time. Both will be available at POST.
