Star Wars, set on Earth, photographer Cedric Delsaux's first solo exhibition in Japan to be held in Shibuya

Nov 10, 2015

"DARK LENS," the first photo exhibition in Japan by French photographer Cedric Delsaux, who creates photographs featuring characters and vehicles from the Star Wars films, will be held at the Diesel Art Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo, from November 20th to February 11th. "Dark Lens" is a photo series that combines Star Wars characters, vehicles, and weapons with the desolate landscapes of Dubai, such as ruins and areas under development. In the works, an AT-AT roams the fog, a speeder bike speeds through the desolate city, and the Millennium Falcon lands on a Dubai building construction site that is devoid of humanity and life. By combining two familiar yet incompatible elements, he succeeds in creating a strange sense of "double déjà vu."

The exhibition will feature approximately 14 works from his "Dark Lens" series, which prompted Star Wars director George Lucas to say, "Delsoe's method of blending the characters and vehicles of Star Wars with stark, urban, industrial - yet unmistakably Earthly - landscapes is nothing short of stunning."

Other events will include screenings of videos created specifically for this exhibition, and sales of related books. There will also be a signing session with the artist from 4pm to 6pm on November 21st.
