On March 19th, Finnish fabric brand Marimekko held its 2015-16 Autumn/Winter season show at Hibiya Kadan in Hibiya Park, Tokyo. This collection was the world's first glimpse into the world of Anna Teurnell, who recently became Marimekko's creative director in November 2014. The collection's theme was "Mindscapes." Inspired by the architecture and rhythms of cities, the show explored how urban women find moments of peace amid their hectic daily lives. The runway was set inside a long-established flower shop, reminiscent of a showcase designed by architect Kumiko Inui, and models quietly appeared in an intimate atmosphere surrounded by plants and the audience. A charcoal gray coat with dropped shoulders and a rounded silhouette was soft and feminine. The cuts and details, including tops with open backs and dresses with off-the-shoulder sleeves, were simple yet contemporary.

The collection features a relaxed mood throughout, with pajama-like shirt and pants sets, cropped pants with elastic waists, tops with wide cuffs, and loose, long knitwear. The footwear is ballet flats.

The brand's signature textile, "Unikko," is also featured in a variety of large and small motifs on shirts, dresses, scarves, and more. The eye-catching, vibrant orange mohair coat and the textured fabric reveal a fun play of textures.

Since its founding in 1951, Marimekko has established its identity with bold colors and innovative prints. The timeless spirit inherited through its colors, patterns, and fabrics is reflected in this collection, which evokes new possibilities.
