Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookshop "NADiff" will introduce a recommended book. This time, we'll be looking at the flagship store, NADiff Apartment, in Ebisu, Tokyo (1-18-4 NADiff A/P/A/R/T, 1F, Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).
■ From Lamb to Mutton
Artist Yoichi Umezu was born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1982. His diverse activities include painting while exploring the institutional aspects of painting and tracing the vestiges of art school entrance exam preparation. He also runs the private school "Purple Room," and has become increasingly prominent in recent years.
This book, "From Lamb to Mutton," is Umezu's first monograph, edited and written by himself. What kind of career does the artist Umezu Yoichi have, what kind of paintings has he produced, and what kind of exhibitions has he presented? Reading this book, which has been researched and analyzed from multiple angles (objectively) by numerous contributors, a three-dimensional picture emerges.
Umezu Yoichi's solo exhibitions are currently being held at two venues: Gallery ARATANIURANO in Shirokane, Minato Ward, Tokyo, and NADiff a/p/a/r/t in Ebisu, Shibuya Ward. We encourage you to visit these exhibitions as well as this book. There are four different book covers, so you can choose the one you like best.
