Franck Muller, which is committed to craftsmanship through the production of mechanical watches, has always had a reverence for traditional Japanese culture. Within food culture, sake brewing is a proud cultural tradition that has been passed down from the past to the present, and this inspired us to create a GINZA SIX limited edition box in collaboration with Moriizo Sake Brewery.
Moriizo's sake brewery is located in a scenic spot on the Osumi Peninsula overlooking Sakurajima. The Takasumi mountain range, towering behind the wooden gassho-style brewery, is the source of underground water and produces the high-quality groundwater essential for shochu production. Since its founding in 1885, the company has used only traditional techniques passed down over the years and the same Japanese earthenware used since the company's founding. Moriizo is a carefully fermented and distilled shochu made primarily from rice grown in Kagoshima Prefecture as koji rice and Kagoshima Prefecture's contract-grown "Kogane Senkan" sweet potatoes. Only Moriizo shochu carefully aged for more than three years is called "Exquisite Moriizo," and its rich, aged aroma and the timeless flavor of the sweet potato provide a truly exquisite experience. The Franck Muller original bottle and white Satsuma sakeware are presented in a specially designed box, with only one set available per day. The quintessence of traditional techniques cultivated in far-flung places like Switzerland and Japan comes together in Ginza, one of Japan's most iconic cities.
FRANCK MULLER x Chinjukan Kiln
This special set comes with a sake set from the same hometown as Moriizo. It's white Satsuma ware, crafted by Chinjukan Kiln, a pottery maker representing Satsuma ware, a traditional Kagoshima craft.
Crafted using traditional Satsuma ware techniques passed down for nearly 400 years, these sake sets are characterized by their translucent beauty, lightness, and exceptional mouthfeel. It's no exaggeration to say they were created to perfectly complement the delicious drinking experience of Moriizo. The delicate and beautiful painting, created using multiple types of paint, creates intricate patterns that leave no room for error. Combined with Franck Muller's timeless design, these sake sets are imbued with a new level of charm.
The white Satsuma ware features fine cracks called kannyu (crazing) on the surface. This is a look not found in porcelain, but is a characteristic of pottery made primarily from clay. The more you use it, the more it will age, and the more majestic and stately it will become.
