The sixth installment of "Tokachip," an event that connects Hokkaido's Tokachi region with Tokyo's shopping districts through delicious ingredients, will be held at 30 restaurants in the Yoyogi-Uehara and Yawata areas from November 28th to December 5th.
During the event, 30 participating establishments in the Yoyogi-Uehara and Yawata areas will offer special menus using Tokachi ingredients, and on the 28th and 29th, a market will be held at Paddlers Coffee in Nishihara, Shibuya Ward, selling fresh vegetables and yogurt from Tokachi. Special menu items will also be available, including hot dogs with homemade sausages made by Chef Nobu of Roppongi's steak restaurant Shozui using whey pork from Tokachi no Gen Farm, and a lunch plate featuring Shimokitazawa's beloved Piri Catant dish served with Tokachip's special bread from Katane Bakery, a renowned Yoyogi-Uehara establishment. Also, only on the first day of the Marche, participating Tokachip stores will be selling original "potato salads" (300 yen each) made using May Queen potatoes from Tokachi Taisho. Last year, 300 of these popular original potato salads were sold in about two hours, and this year, 14 different varieties will be available.
"Tokachip" is a project launched by high school classmates from Tokachi, Hokkaido, to connect Tokachi with Tokyo's shopping districts. They have created a system in which restaurants in Yoyogi-Uehara and Yawata jointly purchase Tokachi ingredients, which are difficult for individuals to purchase due to high shipping costs. This solves the challenges of connecting Tokachi ingredients with Tokyo, such as transportation costs and delivery hassles, and creates an opportunity for people to learn about the appeal of Tokachi ingredients.
The participating stores this time include a lineup of famous stores such as Katane Bakery, Paddlers Coffee, Horiguchi Coffee, First Generation Kappo Takahashi, Sakanoue Hotaru, gris, Maison Cinquante Cinq, Otaya Tofu Shop, Mi Choripan, and Ba.
